Class Description
Learn how to fuse glass! No experience required! Everything will be provided for you, with the EXCEPTION of the glass needed for your final project. Accessory glass, tools, supplies and all kiln firings for THREE completed projects are included in the price of the class. We will also fire your final project for you.
Beginning the first day of your class through the final day of your class, your tuition also includes unlimited Open Studio time at Melt, where you can use our tools and facility to work on your project outside of class time. Open Studio time MUST be reserved 48 hours in advance via phone or email.
This workshop is designed to offer an introduction to glass fusing. The glass needed for your final project will be discussed during the first three sessions and we can help you select the appropriate types and colors to achieve your desired effects.
In this class, you will learn to cut and shape the glass to fit your design, you will learn about the tools and equipment used in fusing, about basic kiln firing schedules, potential reactivity between certain glass colors, play with different types of accessory glass, and SO much more! You will complete FOUR unique projects in this class.
**A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF HAND STRENGTH IS REQUIRED WHEN CUTTING GLASS. IF YOU FEEL THIS COULD BE A CONCERN FOR YOU (ie. hand tremor or arthritis) PLEASE CONTACT US BEFORE REGISTERING FOR THE CLASS.
This class includes FOUR SESSIONS, with the final session working on a project of your own design and choosing. The final project will be available for pick-up approximately one week after the final class session.
