About Melt Glass Art Supply
Hello, and welcome to Melt Glass! In the past 35 years, we have grown from a small basement stained glass studio in Vancouver, Washington, to an industry leader with a global customer base, a thriving retail storefront, and high-demand instructors in both stained glass and fusing. Everyone (including myself) on our staff is a glass artist in their own right. We are involved in craft shows, art shows and galleries across the Pacific Northwest. This gives us all a unique understanding of trends, new products and the importance of everyday fair pricing vs fake sales and promotions. Shopping at Melt, you can feel confident that you're getting a fair price, quality products, and informed advice.
We developed strong relationships with the local glass manufacturers in their early days, and continue to work closely with them to ensure that we stay on the forefront of the newest trends in color, style and product offerings. We have tailored our business specifically to meet the needs of the stained glass, mosaic, torchwork, and fusing hobbyists and small studio owners.
Our goal is to provide an outstanding variety of reasonably priced glass-related products, to make your shopping experience informative and efficient, and to deliver your order promptly and accurately. We keep our prices as low as we can, while still being able to pay our staff a living wage.
We operate our business from a cute little storefront at 502 Washington Street, Vancouver, Washington where we welcome artists to come in and browse our huge selection of dichroic, sheet glass, rods, tools and supplies. Need help with a firing schedule or having trouble with your solder lines? We are here to help!
Of course, not everyone lives close enough to stop in and meet the Melt family in person, so we hope that our website will make you feel like you are right here in the store with us! Please contact us if you have any questions or special requests. We are happy to assist!
We are currently a retail business only, no wholesale pricing is available at this time. Email us at info@meltglass.com for more information on large volume orders, as we are always willing to discuss if you have a specific need.
About the Glass –
Melt is the only authorized CBS Dichroic Distributor in our area. As such, we carry an extensive selection of dichroic glass. Sheet dichroic glass is available in 4 x 4 in. squares, and quarter sheets, as well as scrap glass sold by weight. We also carry CBS Dichroic Frit, Stringer and noodles. Full sheets are available in store only.
We are also an official Bullseye Kiln Glass Resource Center. We stock a full selection of Bullseye fusible sheet glass available in 4″x4″, 8″x10″ , half sheets and full sheets, as well as glass rod and frit. In addition, because of our close proximity to Bullseye, we have access to many experimental, special run and "Saturday Glass" styles that other retailers do not. We also carry Bullseye molds and ThinFire shelf paper.
Our stained glass selection is the largest in the area and continues to grow. We also carry a wide variety of tools, supplies, lead and zinc came to ensure that you'll have everything you need to successfully complete your projects.
For the lampworker, we carry a huge array of COE 104 (Effetre & CiM) rods, and of course the full color pallet from Bullseye. We are a distributor for Bethlehem torches and can help you decide which torch is right for your needs. Supplies and tools are always in stock to help round out your studio and ensure your success.
About the Classes –
Our classes are high-quality, professional, and cover a range of skill levels and techniques. All of the "project" classes are geared towards beginners and require no previous experience with glass. Beginner/Introductory classes last 3-4 weeks and include unlimited open studio time to complete your class projects. "Workshops" are 4-8 hours long and often include additional hours of open studio time to work on your class projects. Intermediate and Advanced classes vary in completion time, based on the individual project.
We rent our kilns and studio space for those artists that just need a place to create. Tools are included in the studio rental, and the artist provides the rest. Our kiln rentals include fiber paper and/or thinfire, and our molds are also for rent and prepared for you so they are ready to use. We have standard firing schedules for full fuse, contour fuse and tack fuse. Anything outside of those options we will need you to provide a schedule or we can work with you to develop something custom. We do not provide kiln time for drop vases, combing, or other high-maintenance firings.
